SO surprised to get this Van, thank you though! I know I've been so distant, but I assure you that I do have several posts written up, I just haven't had the time to sit down and post them. I'm currently working on my passport paperwork, if everything goes to plan I'll be spending my 21st in New Zealand/Cook Islands!
I don't think there's anyone that hasn't already received this that I am following, so I'll just list some favourites!

Now for Van's questions:
1. What is your opinion on conventional writing "rules" (e.g. minimal adverb use)?

Uhh to be honest I'm not really all that informed on the 'rules' I do use spell check though? I do struggle when it comes to writing dialogue with 'accents' you know somefin like this - See how bad I am? I'm perfectionist like when it comes to spelling!

2. How do you choose clothing and hairstyles for your Sims? Is it more important that they reflect their environment or situation, or their personalities and ambitions?

All of the above! Also I keep in mind house colours, though none of my families have official colours.

3. Do you refer to your Sims' in-game aspirations and personalities when developing their characters, especially when it comes to born-in-game Sims whose personalities you didn't get to customize?

Not really, when it comes to my story Sims I'm not really thinking about them however, when I do pause to actually play my medieval hood I am not afraid to cheat my Sims to happiness!

4. Similar to the above, when it comes to love interests, do you allow in-game chemistry to influence which Sims get together? Or do they get with whoever you want them with, whether the game likes it or not?

I think Jess and Max were attracted to one another without my say so, and I have a few 'off-screen' romances going on. While I more than often marry off Sims for the sake of the story, I can say that in the future there will be plot lines influenced by these 'off-screen' romances!

5. If you were to start your story again, are there any major changes you'd make right off the bat? If so, what are they?

I would remove the extremism. Originally I wanted the worst of the worst, racism and sexism, just to explore the fight against these issues, but having to write so intimately about them kind of makes me sick.

6. Are there any books, films, shows, games, or even other Sims stories that you think have influenced your work?

Legend of Korra has influenced an upcoming sub-storyline, and a character is named after my little brother. Overall I could say that shows such as The Tudors, Vikings, Pillars of the Earth, The White Queen and even Game of Thrones have influenced the storyline.

7. What are your favorite character names? Do any of your characters have names you dislike?

I like all the names my Sims have, if I don't like them I change them!

8. Do you listen to music while writing or creating visuals? If so, what kind of music, and why do you feel it helps you personally?

Sometimes I'll have the TV on, usually with something based in the middle ages, for inspiration I guess! When writing in general, no, I don't tend to need or seek out music, frankly I get into 'the zone' and block everything out anyway.

9. Are any of your characters based, however loosely, on people you know in real life?

I think Reina sometimes channels my mother, Kryssa is me if I were beautiful and deadly, Rei is also me if I were married and raising children, Felyx is that guy I've never really met but always dreamed of, Jessamyn is my secret sex drive considering I'm the opposite of her. I could go on but yeah.

10. If you can answer without venturing into spoiler territory, which of your characters do you think have the best chance of overcoming their personal hurdles? Are there any that you fear may be doomed?

I wish I could say Bonnie... Eirian, or maybe Felyx.

11. Does anyone you know in real life read your story? If so, how do you feel about that?
My mother knows and showed it to her work friends, I don't mind, as long as no one reads into my writing too much and declares me crazy!

  1. Yay! Loved reading your answers to these. Funny, how many characters end up getting different pieces of the writer's own personality. :)

No worries about the lack of posts--real life does have to come first, after all. Sounds like some fun birthday plans! Hope everything goes smoothly there. :D

    1. I'm glad! All of my characters are my little babies haha!

Right now just working and saving and trying not to be too depressed. Thank you!
